Margarita
Friedman was born and raised in Mexico. She studied Psychology
in the Universidad de las Americas and Painting in the Academia
de San Carlos. She moved to New York to study figurative painting
at the New York Academy of Art where she graduated MFA Cum
laude in 2004. She has exhibited in Mexico and in the United
States. She lives in Brooklyn NY and teaches drawing and painting
to groups and private students.
She
has always been interested in the struggle of people to gain
their own identity, in their sense of belonging and social
ties. Portraiture has been fundamental in her work as she
tries to understand society through the different types of
people who are part of it.
